Hi, I'm Katie Weiss.
I bring clarity to chaos. It's what I've always done, whether I was three steps ahead of a Congressman in Washington, D.C., or rebuilding my life from scratch as a single mother during a pandemic.
Today, I help coaches, consultants, and small business owners stop circling, make decisions, and build businesses that feel purposeful instead of overwhelming.
My Story
I named GoldenEdge Strategies back when a friend and I were dreaming about business, and Baylor gold was our thing. The name stuck because my work is still about giving you a golden edge—clear messaging, decisive strategy, and a customer experience that feels like you.
But here's how I got here.
The D.C. Years
I'm a proud graduate of Baylor University—Sic 'em Bears—where I dabbled in just about every school before landing on a political science degree. Like any good poli sci grad, I packed my bags and moved to Washington, D.C., without a job or a place to live.
Four days later, I landed a role with Congressman Kevin Brady from Texas. He used to joke that I was his "Radar from MASH" because I was always a few steps ahead of him.
The plan was to stay for a year and then head to law school. But God had other plans.
I spent over a decade in politics, working for some of the most influential figures in Washington. It was fast-paced, high-pressure, and honestly, a dream job.
I was in the room for major decisions. Managing schedules. Planning national events. Coordinating media tours. Whatever needed doing, I was there—bringing order to chaos, making sure nothing fell through the cracks, and helping leaders move forward with clarity and confidence.
Coming Home
Eventually, I knew it was time to come home to Texas. I was 36 weeks pregnant with my first daughter, and I wanted her to grow up near her cousins, surrounded by the same kind of unwavering support I'd had growing up.
It felt like God had opened the door at just the right time. I got all the applause on Facebook for "making the right choice."
But what followed was not what I expected.
The Rebuild
On January 6, 2020, I found out I'd married a con man.
I know that word gets used casually, but in this case, it's literal. At the hearing for our annulment and the termination of his parental rights, the judge said, "When this is on Dateline, I'd like to play myself."
At the time, I was seven months pregnant, unemployed, financially wiped out, and terrified.
My second daughter was born on March 16, 2020—the day Texas shut down for COVID. While the world was figuring out how to move forward, so was I.
I didn't set out to start a business—I set out to survive.
My daughter and I had lived through serious trauma. I needed to be fully present for her and also provide for my family.
That season taught me one of the most powerful lessons of my life: leaning on others for help doesn't make you weak—it makes you wise. And God's plan, even when it looks nothing like yours, is always better.
So step-by-step, I rebuilt.
I leaned into what I've always done best—bringing order to chaos, helping leaders get clear, and solving complex problems with creativity and calm. I pursued certifications that aligned with my values and gave me tools to serve others well.
Today
I'm a certified:
StoryBrand Guide – helping businesses clarify their message so customers actually understand what they do
Business Made Simple Coach – equipping entrepreneurs with the frameworks to grow profitable, sustainable businesses
Unreasonable Hospitality Coach – training teams to transform customer experience into their competitive advantage
Since launching GoldenEdge Strategies, I've helped dozens of small businesses, coaches, and consultants clarify their messages, improve their customer experiences, and build strategies that feel purposeful rather than overwhelming.
So when I say I know what it feels like to be stuck—I mean it.
And I also know what it looks like when you stop duct-taping your way forward and start walking in clarity, wisdom, and purpose.
When I'm not working with clients, you'll find me:
Chasing my two daughters around (they keep me humble and laughing)
Attending anything Baylor-related (Sic 'em Bears)
Reading business books, memoirs, listening to podcasts, and anything that helps me serve clients better
Leaning on my faith and my community—the two things that got me through the hardest season of my life
How I Work
I'm not a patient, "let's revisit this next quarter," coach.
I'm the strategic partner who will sit with you, help you make the decisions, and then tell you to go do them.
Here's what that looks like:
I straddle coach & consultant.
I'll coach you to a certain extent by listening, asking questions, and helping you process. And then I'm going to tell you what you need to do, and you need to go do it.
I bring strategy & soul.
Frameworks matter. Execution matters. But so do empathy, faith, and understanding that you're a human being running a business, not a robot optimizing funnels.
I've lived it.
I understand what it's like to be the bottleneck. To feel stuck. To circle decisions for months because you're overwhelmed by options. I get it firsthand, and I know how to help you move through it.
I see how all the parts work together.
My operations background means I don't just help you with messaging in a vacuum. I see how marketing, sales, operations, and customer journey all connect. And I help you build a strategy that actually works across the whole business.
Why "GoldenEdge"?
The name started as a nod to Baylor gold and dreaming about business with a friend.
But it stuck because it's exactly what I do: I give you a golden edge.
Clarity when everyone else is speaking in vague consultant-speak
Decisive strategy when you've been circling the same decisions for months
A customer experience that makes people remember you, talk about you, and come back to you
That edge is what sets great businesses apart from forgettable ones. And it's what I help you build.
My work combines three proven frameworks:
